Στα πλαίσια του μαθήματος Field Methods, Data Analysis and Models in Marine Sciences του Π.Μ.Σ. Research in Marine Sciences του Τμήματος Ωκεανογραφίας και Θαλασσίων Βιοεπιστημών, θα πραγματοποιηθεί σειρά διαλέξεων/σεμιναρίου από τον Dr R. Arosio, post-doc researcher in University College Cork (Ireland) σε θέματα υποθαλάσσιας γεωμορφολογίας / γεωμορφομετρίας, τις παρακάτω μέρες/ώρες

Δευτέρα 20/11, 15-18, αίθουσα Η Principles of geomorphometry and raster pre-processing for habitat mapping
The first workshop will introduce the manipulation of raster DEMs using first and second order derivatives and different types of 2D filters to clean data or to extract useful geomorphometric information. Segmentation procedures will also be covered.

Τρίτη 21/11, 12-15, αίθουσα Β5 Object-based image analysis for habitat mapping
The second workshop will present the available tools in QGIS that can be used to automate habitat mapping procedures. It will cover the entire process from DEM segmentation to semi-supervised classification.

Τετάρτη 22/11, 12-14, αίθουσα Η A light introduction to Python for habitat mapping in GIS (2h) (optional)
This last optional workshop will be an introduction to the Python programming language and its potential applications to geomorphometry and habitat mapping. This will be a very short course for total beginners and does not require any previous knowledge in programming.
